The agreement for the acquisition of the shares of the English company Globeleq by a consortium formed by DS Constructions of India and Israel Limited Corporation of Israel was announced, with the purpose of expanding the activities of these two in the world’s energy market. Globeleq is the direct owner of Cinérgica, the company in charge of administrating and operating the power plant in El Salvador, Nejapa Power and it is the direct owner of a minority interest in the power plant in Nicaragua, Empresa Energética Corinto. The companies acquired by the aforementioned Indian-Israeli consortium have presence in El Salvador (Nejapa Power), Guatemala, Nicaragua, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Peru and Bolivia. The transaction was for approximately one billion dollars. Consortium Centro América Abogados through its partner Ricardo Cevallos and associate Oscar Samour from the offices in El Salvador, together with the London office Sullivan & Cromwell, LLP, participated in the due diligence process for the acquisition and financing of the Salvadorian company. In the case of the Nicaraguan office Consortium-Taboada & Asociados, the team was formed by: Rodrigo Taboada (head of the team), Gerardo Hernández, Olga Barreto, María Belinda Bendaña and Adela Rodríguez. |
