On October 3rd, the agreement of sale and purchase between Digicel Group, a company with Irish capital and Digicel Holding Limited El Salvador was announced with the purpose of expanding in the Central American region. The multinational, Digicel Group, dedicated to the cellphones, based in Jamaica, acquired one hundred percent of the shares of the local company that operates with Salvadoran, European, American and Venezuelan capital; which will allow it to enter the Latin American market through El Salvador. For this transaction, Ricardo Cevallos, Beatriz Beltranena, Oscar Samour Tanya Cortez, of El Salvador; Karin Herman, Ana de Icaza, Mónica Leal, of Guatemala; José Rafael Rivera, of Honduras and Rodrigo Taboada Alfonso Sandino of Nicaragua; members of Consortium Central American Attorneys, acted as external counsel for Digicel Group during the due diligence process for the acquisition and financing of the company in El Salvador and its subsidiaries in the other Central American countries. With the acquisition of the company located in the country, the expansion of shorter term would be in the Guatemalan market because with the purchase, they obtained the license to operate in Guatemala. Digicel Group is a Caribbean leading company that operates in 21 countries and has more than 2 million users. With this purchase, Digicel Holding Limited in El Salvador has the international support as its main competitors Telefónica and América Móvil. |
