The lawyer Álvaro Castellanos, partner of our offices in Guatemala, Consortium-Rodríguez, Archila, Castellanos, Solares & Aguilar, has been appointed Ad Hoc Judge by the Government of Guatemala, in a case that will be held by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, based in San Jose, Costa Rica . The Inter-American Court of Human Rights is an autonomous judicial institution of the Organization of American States (OAS) established in 1979, its main objective is the application and interpretation of the American Convention on Human Rights. It is formed by jurists of the highest moral standards and widely recognized expertise and competence in the area of Human Rights, who were elected by their individual capacity. It is important to mention that whenever a case is brought before the Inter-American Court of Human rights against a State, this State must appoint an Ad Hoc Judge. The Government of Guatemala has appointed Mr. Castellanos, after revising the documentation of his record as a professional lawyer. This designation is worthy of the proudness of our firm due to the great professional expertise of our partner Alvaro Castellanos.
